Pakcoy Garlic Sauce
A quick and savory Asian-style side dish featuring blanched bok choy topped with aromatic fried garlic and a thick, savory gravy.
Ingredients
- 1 Bok Choy (trimmed and washed)
- 3 Garlic (minced and fried until golden)
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil (for frying garlic)
- 300 ml Water
- 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp White Sugar
- 1 Table Salt (pinch)
- ½ tsp Chicken Powder (or any seasoning powder)
- ½ tsp White Pepper
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
Instructions
- 1
Trim and wash the bok choy thoroughly. Boil in water for approximately 1 minute, then drain and arrange on a serving plate.

Mince 3 cloves of garlic. Fry in vegetable oil until golden brown. Remove the fried garlic from the pan and set aside, reserving the remaining oil in the pan.
- 3
In a separate bowl, mix together water, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, salt, seasoning powder, white pepper, and cornstarch until well combined.
- 4
Pour the sauce mixture into the pan with the reserved garlic oil. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sauce boils and thickens.
- 5
Sprinkle the fried garlic over the boiled bok choy, then pour the hot garlic sauce over the top and serve immediately.
